Booking a portrait session

My Signature Portrait Session is $150 for up to 90 minutes studio or location (within Greater Hobart)

This session offers a relaxed pace and approach to portraiture, and is suited to individuals or groups wanting a suite of beautiful images, or clients wanting to capture a variety of shots. In the studio we allow enough time for outfit changes, mixing up the lighting, and experimenting with different ideas, as well as working with my signature portrait style.

For location sessions there is the option of being creative in variety of settings. These can be outdoor (e.g. beach, fields, urban) or indoor (e.g. your home, dance studio, gym). Depending on the location I will utilise available natural light, or incorporate lighting techniques to create a suite of images that showcase you and the surrounds.

Please note that I offer Professional Headshot packages on either individual or group/team basis. I also undertake commercial projects for agencies and businesses, customised according to your brief and requirements.
Please contact for more information and pricing.

Planning appointment

Included in the session is a 15 minute planning appointment on a date prior to your shoot. This gives us the opportunity to discuss what you want from your shoot, and bring along any examples of shots that you like. You can ask any questions and we can set a date for your shoot. These sessions often help both of us get to know each other helping you be more relaxed when it comes time for your shoot. You will have an opportunity to see samples of the different products on offer and we will go through the pricing options in more detail. This is also when we can put our diaries together and schedule in the portrait session.

Ordering appointment

Soon after your portrait session is the fun part when you get to see all your images and select the final products you’d like. Beautiful portraits are a fantastic keepsake, and I have a number of options and packages available to help you best showcase these fine art prints. Most clients choose an album to best present a variety of images, and framed wall art is something you can treasure forever. It is a good idea to have a look around your home prior to your ordering appointment and come prepared with an idea in mind for where you could hang your portraits and what sizes may work best. I can help guide you through this process if you need assistance. Digital files are also available to purchase. It is a great time to consider if there are people in your life who would love the gift of a fine art print for an upcoming special occasion.

There is no obligation in this session, and you can choose how many images and products you wish to purchase. My packages are designed to represent the most popular choices, and offer discounts on ordering multiple items. Prints start at $195 (for an 8x10" matted and mounted fine art giclee print), and packages start at $1495.

I can accept credit card, cash or direct deposit as payment, and also have a take home layby option available where you have the benefit of making payments over time, whilst getting to enjoy your images straight away.

Preparing for your shoot

Depending on what you are looking for from your portrait session there are a number of things you can do to prepare for your shoot. I suggest that looking at photos that you like is a great way to get ideas that show mood, lighting, styling, and posing. My website or pinterest page may be a good starting point. Feel free to even put some examples together to show me at the planning appointment.

Many of my female clients like to invest in professional hair and make-up services for their shoot, and if you require any recommendations then please ask. Some prefer to do their own styling, or go for a more natural look (something that can also be achieved well from professional styling).

If you are wanting a location shoot think about the style you would like, indoor or outdoor, beach, park, urban setting etc. If you are unsure about an appropriate location then please chat with me and I can suggest some options.

Most clients like to bring a variety of outfit options. I also recommend to include at least one plain and simple outfit (e.g. a black singlet, white tee or shirt etc) that isn’t too distracting and won’t date in a portrait. Females wanting to experiment with close ups with bare shoulders can benefit from bringing a strapless bra or bandeau top, and some clients like to try lingerie or nude shots, which is totally at your discretion and comfort level.

Most of my sessions are conducted with individuals, and I do find that people generally relax into the process the most if there isn’t anyone else there present. That being said, I also do shoot couples, siblings, friends and family groups, so please talk to me about these options if they interest you. For clients under 18 I ask that a chaperone accompanies you on your shoot.

Finally... don’t stress, and enjoy the process! I photograph a variety of people of all ages, sub cultures, shapes and sizes, with varying levels of confidence and experience in front of the camera. My job is to put you at ease and help you feel as comfortable as possible, so that we can get you a series of portraits that you are in love with.
